North Broads Sailing Cruises : Emergency Access Points
In the event of an incident occurring it may be necessary to call for assistance. While there is an ever-increasing coverage of mobile phones, it cannot be guaranteed that one would give access to the emergency services.
This list covers the area of the Northern Broads which the SCCSC Cruises normally use and identifies:
The Emergency services should recognise the 'official' Broads Authority names of Public Moorings, (in italics).
No Account has been taken of boatyards, pubs and shops; when open, such places would be likely to allow you to call for assistance. This list shows access and communication points available at all times. The Grid References and Postcodes can be quoted when using a mobile phone - which normally takes you to a central control facility.

GRID REFERENCES OF LOCATIONS WITHOUT ROAD ACCESS
These are for the very rare occasions when you cannot get your vessel to the nearest road access, or even get to a bank from which you can walk along a footpath to get help. In such a situation call the Coastguard on 999 - they will co-ordinate with the ambulance service, etc. The Coastguard do use Grid References - and if you should need a helicopter transfer to hospital, the RAF Sea Kings also use them. The Grid Refs quoted are in 'standard' 100m format (note - 'TG' is 'Tango Golf'), and the full numeric format (sometimes with slightly greater accuracy).
